March 1947 handwritten letter from Detroit Tiger Hall of Fame outfielder Sam Crawford to a fan seeking and autograph. In the letter Crawford apologizes for taking him so long to get back as he had moved and ends by saying "Am glad you like baseball and I hope you become a great player". Crawford has signed the letter in 8-9/10 vintage black ink. The signature on the letter appears to have been coated or shellacked. After 19 years in the big leagues Crawford retired with 2964 hits 312 triples(Still Number 1 All-Time in MLB History) .309 lifetime average and 1525 RBI's. Letter is framed with a photo/picture from book showing Crawford as a rookie with the Cincinnati Reds in 1899. Very nicely framed in a vintage black frame to a size of 24 1/2" by 15 3/4". Frame does have chipping around the edges. Included is the original envelope from the fan showing how it had been forwarded and Crawford's reply envelope signed S. E. Crawford. The "Crawford" is perfect 10/10 vintage black ink but the "S.E." letters both have damage from when the letter was opened.Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
