The signatures of 14 members of baseballs exclusive 500 Home Run Club are beautifully presented in this 35 x 43 inch framed display. The elite class of sluggers includes: Hank Aaron Babe Ruth Frank Robinson Harmon Killebrew Reggie Jackson Mike Schmidt Mikey Mantle Jimmie Foxx Willie McCovey Ted Williams Ernie Banks Eddie Mathews Mel Ott and Eddie Murray. Included in the display are Perez-Steele postcards of each player(except Murray which is an Orioles postcard) that are either signed (Mantle McCovey Banks & Mathews) or matted above the players signature on a 3 x 5 index card or postcard. Highlighting the piece are beautiful Ott (8/10) and Foxx (10/10) signatures as well as a very large black fountain pen Ruth signature (sincerely Babe Ruth). The Ruth Signature signed on an unlined (4.5 x 3) piece of paper is a perfect 10. In fact every signature except the Murray used to create this ensemble are exceptionally large and bold. Matted in the center is a printed plaque listing each 500 Home Run Club member and their career totals. Of all the different 500 HR Club pieces weve seen this is by far the most impressive. Magnificent 500 Home Run display piece!
The SMR value of the Ruth Foxx Ott and Williams signatures alone is worth over $4000.
When originally sold back in 2003 the piece had full LOA's for all 15 players contained on the display from both Mike Gutierrez and PSA/DNA(James Spence and Steve Grad). Unfortunately these were misplaced by the consignor over time. In having PSA/DNA look at the piece again for this auction they now deemed the Willie Mays signature to be CLUBHOUSE. A Willie Mays 3X5 signature goes in the $30 range so it would be just a very minor expense to substitute one into this beautiful display piece.
