The 1983 AFC Champion Los Angeles Raiders pummeled the Washington Redskins 38-9 to win Super Bowl XVIII on Jan. 22 1984. This ring was presented to Raiders standout Lyle Alzado considered one of the premier defensive ends in professional football for 15 seasons. A three-time Pro Bowl selection and the NFLs 1982 Comeback Player of the Year Alzado would eventually lose his battle to brain cancer in 1992 that took his life at just 43 years of age. This is the very first time that this ring has gone up at auction. The top of the 14K gold ring features three real diamond studded footballs representing the franchises three Super Bowl wins. This is on top of a black onyx field which exhibits two small chips in the lower portion. LOS ANGELES RAIDERS WORLD CHAMPIONS is on the top and bottom of the perimeter in high relief while both perimeter sides have five diamonds. One shank features his name position and uniform number ALZADO END 77 with the year 1983 the term POISE and the Raiders logo. The other shank has "SUPERBOWL XVIII" at the top followed by the final score "Raiders 38 Redskins 9" carved between an etching of the Lombardi Trophy. Below that is "AFC Champions" with a large AFC logo surrounded on one side by "Raiders 30" and on the other by "Seahawks 14" the final score of the 1983 AFC Championship game. Beneath that the word "PRIDE" can be found in large black lettering above the year "1983. The ring is sized 15.5 and weighs 46 grams.
