During his 17 seasons in MLB (all with the New York Yankees) Lou Gehrig possessed a prowess at the plate that we had not seen in sometime. A lifetime .341 hitter Gehrig has three of the top six RBI seasons in baseball history. He was nicknamed the "Iron Horse" for his record 2130 consecutive games played. That record stood until 1995 when Cal Ripken Jr broke it. In 1999 Gehrig was voted to the All-Century team and is widely recognized as one of the greatest first baseman to ever play the game. His Major League career was cut short when he was diagnosed with ALS a rare muscular disease that would take his life just two years later. His speech "I feel like the luckiest man alive" is still widely played today. We offer from this amazing player and person a fully certified cut signature. This framed piece has an unsigned photo from his famous speech and a statistic plate that says "LOU GEHRIG 1903-1941 2130 CONSECUTIVE GAMES .341 LIFETIME".
