Here are four vintage jockey silks from around the world including one attributed to legendary Australian jockey Pat Glennon. Glennon who rode Comic Court to victory in the 1950 Melbourne Cup wore this effervescent silk during his fabled career. Later wanting to embellish his already solid career Glennon went abroad seeking further opportunities. Settling in Ireland where he soon blossomed into a fearsome rider winning the jockey's championship. At a time when it was permissible to wear purple and orange sherbert on either side of Labor Day this garment must have dazzled as it does even now. With E.C. Mitty tagging on the collar the lustrous satin reveals race use but is in superb condition right down to the satin button covers. Item No. 2 boasts a splashy green and yellow satin in this case revealing a good deal of race use but yet remaining overall intact and without incident. Yellow diamond-shaped pieces are arranged vertically on the silk and down the sleeves with the yellow pieces particularly displaying the race usage. Item No. 3 sports a yellow silk "TM' encircled by yellow and gold embroidery all discreetly adorning a blazing gold satin jacket that shows good race usage but remains intact and without incident including the nifty "bow tie" at the collar. The final silk is mostly white satin with vivid blue adornments most notably a "M" encircled in blue on the front a design element that is repeated on the back as well. Circle M ranch claimed some fame with the noted horse Big Pebble winning the 1937 Miami Gold Cup and the Hollywood Gold Cup four years later. Like the other silks the condition is phenomenal with only some light staining visible on a sleeve. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
