Nice group of 9 original photos featuring legendary Negro League Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige.
- 3 assorted photos of Paige: In his Kansas City Monarchs uniform(undated) In a New York (BLACK?) Yankees uniform throwing before a small crowd(undated) sitting at a diner in street clothes(undated).
- 5 original photos taken on location during the filming of the 1959 movie The Wonderful Country in which he played in a dramatic role as Sgt. Toby Sutton who is forced to take command of a troop of Buffalo Soldiers when the white commanding officer is mortally wounded. All picture Paige in a cavalryman's uniform including one interesting off camera shot showing him holding a baseball while standing with a group of youngsters. 3 of the pictures show him with the star of the movie Robert Mitchum.
- 2/15/46 original wire photo of Negro League pitcher John Wright who was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers and assigned to the Montreal Royals to become Jackie Robinson's roommate. He was the 2nd African-American signed to play major league baseball. He is pictured in his Homestead Grays uniform.
