Jackie Robinson Day is a traditional event which occurs every year in Major League Baseball ballparks across North America to commemorate and honor the day Robinson made his major league debut: April 15 1947. Initiated for the first time on April 15 2004 Jackie Robinson Day is a celebration of Robinson's debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers (now the Los Angeles Dodgers) that ended almost 80 years of baseball segregation. In acknowledging Robinsons historic and heroic role in breaking baseballs color barrier all players coaches and managers on both teams as well as the on-the-field umpires wear No. 42 jerseys on April 15th. Robinsons number was retired in 1997 by Major League Baseball on the 50th anniversary of his extraordinary feat. All 6 New York Yankees jerseys (2010-2013) in this lot were consigned to SCP Auctions by the Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) a national not-for-profit organization founded in 1973 by Rachel Robinson (Jackies widow) as a vehicle to perpetuate the memory of Jackie Robinson through the advancement of higher education among underserved populations. A portion of the proceeds from the online auction will go toward benefiting the Jackie Robinson Foundation. For more information about the JRF visit www.jackierobinson.org.

The following six Yankees home jerseys are included: 2010 Joba Chamberlain (RP) 2010 Javier Vazquez (SP) 2010 Francisco Cervelli (C) 2011 A.J. Burnett (SP) 2011 Freddy Garcia (SP) and 2013 C.C. Sabathia (SP). The Yankees were one of two dozen teams playing on the actual anniversary date April 15 2010 beating the Angels 6-3 in front of 44722 fans at Yankee Stadium. Chamberlain did his usual prep work for Mariano Rivera pitching a scoreless 1 1/3 innings before turning things over to his Hall of Fame teammate. Vazquez and Cervelli did not play. In 2011 the Yankees tangled with the Rangers on the anniversary date losing 5-3 in front of 40814 fans at Yankee Stadium. Neither Burnett nor Garcia pitched. In 2013 the Bronx Bombers played on April 16 to honor Jackie and beat the visiting Diamondbacks 4-2. Sabathia did not pitch in that one. With a lifetime log of 214-129 the behemoth 6'7" Sabathia has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game since debuting with the Indians in 2001 winning the Cy Young in 2007 and making 6 All-Star teams. A.J. Burnett just announced his retirement following the 2015 season and finished with a 164-157 career record that includs a no-hitter. Vasquez and Garcia were top of the rotation starters in their heydays. And Cervelli was a top Yankee prospect who now holds down the starting job behind the dish for the Pirates.

Each white button-down garment has the famous Yankee pinstripes and Jackie Robinsons legendary No. 42 on the back with the Yankees interlocking NY logo on the left chest all in navy blue tackle twill. There is a tag with Majestic Authentic Collection on the front tail and an MLB authentication hologram affixed to it. In the same spot is the New York Yankees embroidered flag tag with that player's regular jersey number size and year (i.e. 52 56 13" for Sabathia) and a New York Yankees bar code sticker directly below. The MLB logo on the back of the collar is embroidered in white silver and navy blue stitching. Each jersey exhibits appropriate wear more for those who played in the respective game and comes problem-free without any alterations. What an incredible group of jerseys to own and with proceeds going to the JRF it's surely a win-win!

All jerseys come with an MLB Authentication hologram (i.e. #EK 653039 for Sabathia) and a Letter of Authenticity from the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
