Great group of four Summer Olympic participation medals from 1948 to 1968.

1948 London: Made of bronze. Designed by B. Mackennal and minted by J. Pinches (England). Diameter 51 mm. Weight 68 grams. Obverse depicts city view of London over raised legend ("XIV OLYMPIAD LONDON 1948") in three lines with Olympic rings below. Reverse shows quadriga with triumphant winner dashing (same design as 1908) and has "BM" [designer] hallmark. Presents NM.

1952 Helsinki: Made of bronze with classic Scandinavian design by Kauko Räsänen (minted in Sweden). Diameter 54 mm. Weight 78 grams. Obverse features stylized athletes heads superimposed over Olympic Stadium with "HELSINKI / HELSINGFORS" and "1952" at top; Designer's name hallmarked near bottom. Reverse shows two raised torch bearers and Olympic rings with "XV OLYMPIA" at top. Presents NM. (First time we've listed one of these.)

1960 Rome: Made of cast bronze. Patina design by Emilio Greco and minted by Bertoni of Milan, Italy. Diameter 55 mm. Weight 78 grams. Obverse shows nude female torchbearer in the foreground with the Olympic rings in the background; "GRECO" hallmarked. Reverse shows a flight of eagles soaring over Rome stadium below legend in Latin. Games highlight was young boxer named Cassius Clay winning Light Heavyweight gold medal. Presents EX-MT.

1968 Mexico City. Made of copper. Designed by Lance Wyman (American). Measures 50x50 mm. Weight 118 grams. Only square shaped participation medal. Obverse has "Mexico 68" and 20 pictograms of different Olympic sports. Legend ("JUEGOS DE LA XIX OLIMPIADA") on reverse. First Games held in Latin America. Presents NM. (First time we've listed one of these.)
