Boston Celtics great Jo Jo White was not only a Hall of Fame basketball player during his 12-year NBA career but also a Good Samaritan who always represented himself and his organization in a favorable light. Now 69 years of age White has received his share of accolades off the court as well and this lot represents three such awards. The first is a special trophy from the Boston Renaissance Charter Public Schools CEO and Headmaster Dr. Roger F. Harris that reads: African Americans Making History Today Mr. Jo Jo White A Living Legend February 9 2007. Standing 11 tall the trophy has a plaque that reads: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of African American Leaders You Are the Beacon of Light That Give Us Hope. The second is a special two-piece crystal trophy that White received from the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame In Recognition of Meritorious Achievements in Athletics and in the Community. It includes a world globe on top and its base is etched with the aforementioned text as well as his name and the date and location when he was honored: August 16 2008 Harlem New York. The final award is a 10 tall crystallized trophy from the National Civil Rights Museum and the Memphis Grizzlies Sports Legacy Award Presented by FedEx. Etched in crystal it reads: To Jo Jo White January 20 2014 For your significant contributions to civil and human rights; And a lifes work inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
