Presented is a 1981 Topps #216 Joe Montana rookie card, autographed and graded PSA NM 7 with a PSA/DNA 9 autograph grade (PSA cert. #161154890). Montana's lone Topps rookie remains the key card of the 1981 football set and one of the most important football cards of the modern era.

The card was released the year Montana took over as the San Francisco 49ers' full-time starter, the season that culminated in the franchise's first world championship with a victory in Super Bowl XVI. It was the beginning of a dynasty. Montana would go on to win four Super Bowls without a single loss on the game's biggest stage, earn three Super Bowl MVP awards and claim two NFL MVP honors, building a reputation for late-game composure that earned him the nickname "Joe Cool." His Pro Football Hall of Fame induction came in 2000.

The card presents well at the Near Mint 7 level, with solid eye appeal, rich color and the familiar Topps football design with the 49ers team banner. Montana has signed boldly in black ink across the card front, and the autograph is bold and fluid, earning an outstanding 9 grade from PSA/DNA. Signed Montana rookies with high autograph grades are particularly desirable, as the pairing of a strong card grade and an exceptional signature grade is difficult to locate.

This is a premier example of the quarterback's rookie card, enhanced by an outstanding autograph, and ideal for advanced football collections.
