The T206 White Border set is the most famous tobacco issue ever produced, and Ty Cobb is its biggest star. The Georgia Peach appears in four different T206 poses, and the "Bat on Shoulder" image is one of the most recognizable. The front shows Cobb in his gray Detroit road uniform, his bat resting on his shoulder as he glances over at the viewer. The background is a warm, glowing blend of yellow and orange above a green field, and the color on this example is bright and attractive. The caption reads "Cobb, Detroit."

The reverse carries the Piedmont "The Cigarette of Quality" advertisement, designated "Base Ball Series, 150 Subjects," with Factory No. 25 of the 2nd District of Virginia. Piedmont was the most common advertising back in the T206 set, making it the go-to choice for Cobb collectors.

Cobb retired with 4,189 hits and a .366 lifetime batting average, the highest in major league history. He won 11 or 12 American League batting titles, depending on the source, including nine straight from 1907 to 1915, and he stole 897 bases. When the Hall of Fame held its first election in 1936, Cobb received more votes than any other player, including Babe Ruth.

This example shows wear to the corners and edges consistent with the grade, but the front image remains strong and the colors are vibrant. The reverse is clean and legible. An attractive example of a premier T206 Hall of Famer. Graded GD+ 2.5 by PSA.
