The 1958 FIFA World Cup in Sweden introduced the world to Brazil's golden generation, and this 1958 WS-Verlag Fussball-Weltmeisterschaft #77 captures a moment from the match that launched it. Brazil's 2-0 victory over the Soviet Union in Gothenburg on June 15, 1958, marked the World Cup debut of a 17-year-old Pelé, as well as that of winger Garrincha, and Brazil would go on to claim its first world championship.

This German-issued card features a black-and-white action photograph from the match. The German-language reverse, titled "Bild Nr. 77," describes the scene as a shot by Brazilian right winger Manoel dos Santos, better known as Garrincha, striking the post, adding that Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin "had great luck." Yashin would go on to become the only goalkeeper ever to win the Ballon d'Or, making this card a rare contemporary image featuring two of the sport's all-time greats.

The 1958 WS-Verlag series was issued at the time of the tournament and documents its matches in real time, giving these cards significant appeal among collectors of early World Cup and Pelé-era material. Surviving examples are scarce, particularly in graded form.

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA (Cert. #84025055), this example shows wear and creasing consistent with the grade, while the image remains clear and the reverse text fully legible.
