Offered is a high-grade British issue featuring "The Greatest": a 1971 Barratt & Co. Ltd. "Famous Sportsmen" #24 Cassius Clay, graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Produced by the London confectioner Barratt & Co. and distributed under its "Goldflake" banner, this international Ali card is far less common in the American market than his domestic issues. High-grade examples are rarely offered.

The obverse captures the heavyweight champion in the ring in white trunks with a dark waistband. He gazes downward with a jump rope in hand, framed by the ring ropes and red turnbuckles. The reverse, part of "A Series of 50," identifies the subject as "Cassius Clay or Muhamed Ali." It reads, in part: "Former undefeated world Heavyweight champion. Clay breathed life into a dying sport with his predictions, but was amazingly accurate with them. A beautiful boxer to watch, and he could punch too... Now on the come-back trail!"

The timing of the issue is significant. In 1971 Ali was returning to the ring after his exile from boxing, and that March he met Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden in the "Fight of the Century." He would go on to reclaim the heavyweight title from George Foreman in 1974 and become the first three-time lineal heavyweight champion.

This example presents with bright color, clean white borders, sharp corners and excellent eye appeal consistent with the NM-MT 8 grade. It is housed in an earlier-generation PSA holder. This is a sharp, international Ali rarity. Encapsulated by PSA (Cert. #01616889).
