Offered is a high-grade card of "Mr. Hockey" from the heart of his record-setting career: a 1968 O-Pee-Chee #29 Gordie Howe, graded NM-MT 8 (OC) by PSA. O-Pee-Chee's Canadian issues were produced in smaller quantities than their Topps counterparts and are especially prone to condition problems. High-grade 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee Howes are therefore genuinely difficult to locate.

The horizontal obverse shows Howe in Detroit's red home sweater bearing his famous No. 9, smiling as he leans on his stick. He is set against a pale blue illustrated action scene, with a Red Wings logo in the upper left. Yellow and blue banners along the bottom read "Gordie Howe • Detroit Forward." The bilingual English-and-French reverse describes him as pro hockey's "Mr. Everything," citing his five scoring championships, three MVP awards and nine First All-Star Team selections at the time of issue. It notes that he "is still going strong after 22 seasons" and adds, "Gordie the Great holds more NHL records than anyone else."

Howe went on to play in five different decades. He won four Stanley Cups and six Hart Trophies, and he retired with 801 NHL goals, a record that stood until Wayne Gretzky surpassed it.

This example displays vibrant color, a sharp image and clean corners, with surfaces and edges supporting the NM-MT 8 grade. The (OC) qualifier notes off-center framing. It is housed in an earlier-generation PSA holder, and it is an outstanding example of a key Howe issue. Encapsulated by PSA (Cert. #40274051).
