Presented is the cornerstone rookie card of "Tom Terrific," one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history: a 1967 Topps #581 Tom Seaver Rookie, graded EX 5 by PSA. Seaver shares the "Mets 1967 Rookie Stars" card with fellow right-hander Bill Denehy. As a high-number seventh-series issue, it is one of the most important and challenging cards of the decade.

The obverse pairs two Mets prospects in matching blue caps beneath a magenta "METS" banner on a bright yellow field. Seaver appears at right, with his facsimile signature and the "Tom Seaver • P" nameplate below. The reverse offers each player's minor league pitching record and notes that the rookie right-hander "clinched a job after performing sensationally in the spring exhibitions."

Seaver delivered on every bit of that promise. He won 1967 NL Rookie of the Year honors and anchored the 1969 "Miracle Mets" to an improbable World Series title. Over his career he captured three Cy Young Awards and finished with 311 wins and 3,640 strikeouts. In 1992 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame with what was then a record 98.8% of the vote.

This example offers bold color, sharp portraits and pleasing eye appeal. Its centering is reasonable, and its corner and edge wear are consistent with the EX 5 grade.
