One reason Babe Ruth will always be celebrated as a baseball hero and an American icon is the time he made for his fans particularly the hundreds of kids that would line up before and after games to get an autograph from their idol. Here is another perfect example of The Babe's generosity. The consignor's grandfather was one of the aforementioned kids who stood in line and got Ruth to sign this baseball at the last New York Yankees game the boy attended before moving away to Ohio. It believed to be from the 1938 season when the boy Bruce Greenman was just seven years old. Babe signed the Interscholastic League red-and blue-stitched baseball "To Bruce Greenman From Babe Ruth" in large blue ink on the panel below the label. Babe's beautifully crafted signature is around 2 1/4" by 1/2" (with the personal message it stretches to 3" by 2"). PSA/DNA has graded it EX-MT 6 overall with a NM 7 for the autograph and EX 5 for the baseball. However we must admit that the ball presents even better than these ratings when cross-referencing with other Ruth-signed balls in the hobby. It certainly stands as one of the more impressive personalized examples we have ever seen. Aside from a few scuff marks the mostly white baseball shows very slight toning and little handling. Another great Babe Ruth artifact to continue his reign as the Collectible King!
