This large promotional photograph for the Christy Walsh Syndicate taken at the 1924 World Series is signed in black fountain pen along the base by all seven individuals pictured: Babe Ruth ("4/5") Walter Johnson ("10") Ty Cobb ("9/10") John McGraw ("6") George Sisler ("6") Nick Altrock ("10") and Christy Walsh ("8/9"). The preprinted lettering in the foreground reads "Over One Million Words in 8 Days Filed by This Great All-Star Staff of The Christy Walsh Syndicate - 1924 World Series - Washington vs. 'Giants.'" In addition to founding the syndicate Christy Walsh also served as Ruth's longtime business agent. Walsh annually produced display photographs of his writing syndicate taken at the World Series and distributed them as promotional vehicles for the business. Signed examples such as this were often used as special presentation gifts to his top clients (newspaper syndication business associates) for office display. The imperial sized photograph (16.5 x 13.5 inches) displays a small corner chip in the lower right as well as a few very minor creases and a few tack holes (almost all in the corners) relating to its former display. Although technically in Very Good condition nearly all of the flaws are relegated to the border areas and the central image presents as Excellent. This is an extraordinary signed display photograph of seven of the greatest legends of the game at the 1924 World Series. Framed and matted to approximate dimensions of 25 x 21 inches.
