Longtime sports columnist and former NBA TV analyst Peter Vecsey compiled his fair share of one-on-one player interviews around the league during the course of his reporting career. One such interview occurred in 1999 with Kobe Bryant a then-19-year-old hoops phenom playing for the Los Angeles Lakers who just recently retired after 20 incredible seasons in the NBA. Thought we'd remind you in case you were living on Mars for the past few years.
Featured here is a Kobe Bryant autographed Los Angeles Lakers practice-worn jersey that Bryant gave to Vecsey following the aforementioned interview. It hangs from Kobe's locker in the background throughout the nterview. During the '99 campaign Bryant averaged 19.9 points and 5.3 boards per outing. The reversible Nike (size XL) 100% nylon yellow and gold mesh jersey includes proper Nike tagging on the front left tail of the purple side including a "LENGTH +4" strip tag. On the yellow side of the jersey Bryant signed it with black marker and added his then-uniform number "8" just below his signature. An embroidered purple Nike swoosh appears at the bottom of the v-neck jersey while the official NBA embroidered logo man patch completes the jersey on the left front shoulder.
