What a truly magnificent piece a game-worn and autographed cap that looks like it was worn by a former football player who might be capable of dragging himself out of the clubhouse limping up to home plate and launching a game-winning home run in the World Series. Kirk Gibson wore this amazing cap during that historic 1988 season. The Size 7 cap shows as much game use as you might imagine possible clearly enough dirt and sweat to suggest that it came from an era before uniforms and equipment were rotated with the regularity of the shift change at a General Motors assembly plant. We mention General Motors out of deference to the Pontiac native Gibson who wore this cap during his greatest season in 1988 when the was the National League's Most Valuable Player and helped propel the Dodgers into a World Series where he would take but a single swing - to the aforementioned good effect. The cap has New Era Major League Baseball and "Size 7" tags on the inside; on the green lower brim his No. 23 has been had written directly above a black Sharpie Gibson autograph 8/10 and the inscription "1988 World Champ NL MVP." As noted the outside of the cap shows a lot of dirt but is otherwise problem-free; the embroidered white "LA" logo has no difficulties with the intricate stitching but reveals a lot of dirt as does the white button on top.
