Fight program to the World Heavyweight Championship Fight between Champion Jim Braddock and challenger Joe Louis held at Comiskey Park in Chicago on June 22 1937. Two years earlier Braddock "The Cinderella Man" shocked the boxing world by defeating the heavily favored Champion Max Baer to take the Heavyweight title. Braddock passed up a fight with Max Schmeling for a much bigger pay day against rising star Joe Louis with his manager structuring the deal so that he would eventually receive over $150000 over the years from the arrangement. Braddock knocked down Louis in round 1 but the tide of the fight began to turn and by the 8th round Louis was able to knock Braddock out and take the crown. Louis was quoted as saying that Braddock was the bravest man he ever fought. Program loaded with photos articles statistic and numerous period ads. Spine sound with covers relatively clean with some creasing. Inside pages also clean with some pages having a corner crease at the right bottom. Program to a very important fight matching two Hall of Fame boxing legends.
