ADDENDUM: Please read important updates to this description.

On July 4, 1912, Jack Johnson fought "Fireman" Jim Flynn in defense of his World Heavyweight Championship crown. The fight took place in the small town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, just a year after Sin City was even incorporated as a municipality. Johnson was awarded the victory via TKO in Round 9 to retain the title. The referee repeatedly warned Flynn for head-butting and film footage shows Flynn was guilty as charged. He was apparently trying to break loose from the taller Johnson who held Flynn at the back of his upper arms when they got close.

Presented here is an incredbly scarce full unused ticket to that World Heavyweight Championship bout, as well as a railroad pass used by one of the spectators to travel to the event. Both items along with a restrike photo of the fight are displayed in a nice matte, and framed to overall dimensions of "13 by 17".

We have opened the frame from the back and posted an image of the layout to show how these items are secured within the frame. The ticket is very well-preserved on the front and remains intact on its verso with a little tape reinforcement along the vertical perforation lines. From our point of view, considering the type of non-destructive white tape used to attach both ephemera items to the back of the matte, the ticket can be safely removed and submitted for PSA encapsulation. It would get no better than an "Authentic" designation, but that would still put it in very rare company. Only nine full tickets from the famous Johnson-Flynn fight that took place 110 years ago have ever been authenticated by PSA. This one would make it an even ten in the pop report.
