This poster was displayed on-site at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Las Vegas for the second Sonny Liston-Floyd Patterson fight. At this time, Sonny Liston was regarded as an almost unstoppable force, a tremendously talented fighter; however, his intimidating presence and run-ins with the law made him unpopular with many fans. His stunning first-round knockout of the more popular Floyd Patterson made Liston heavyweight champion and left fans hungry for a rematch. Liston-Patterson II was held on July 22, 1963, with Liston the 4-1 favorite. This time, Patterson lasted just four seconds longer against Liston, suffering another stunning first-round KO. This visually appealing fight poster shows both men in full-body poses against a vibrant yellow background. This on-site poster plays up the “No Local TV” exclusivity of this legendary title fight. The poster has been professionally matted and framed. The frame measures 27 ½” x 19.”
