Very nice condition July 16 1940 two-page hand-written letter from Washington Senator Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson to his pen pal Eleanor Fleitman of Kansas City Missouri. Johnson who wrote the letter on his own "Walter P. Johnson Germantown MD." stationary has signed the letter with a perfect 9/10 vintage blue ink signature "Walter. Johnson was one of the first five players elected to the Hall of Fame in 1936 along with Babe Ruth Ty Cobb Honus Wagner and Christy Mathewson. In the letter Johnson bounces around a bit talking about some female pedestrians he picked up and gave rides in his car (I seldom pick any one up but I was lonesome and glad to have company) to the fact that he has about one hundred head young and old milk cattle. I ship about 100 gals of milk to D.C. each day. He goes on to Eleanor: If I hadnt seen your picture and you came walking down the road I would just have gone up top you put my arms around you and kissed you a couple time. I would have known you any place. Try me out on that. The two-page letter itself is in very nice condition with just the original two folds. It comes accompanied by the original mailing envelope which is postmarked from Germantown Maryland on July 17 1940.
