Julius Erving's 1986-1987 season played out like a great rock band's farewell tour with stadiums sold out around the country to see the Doctor in action one last time. At the age of 36 and with the Sixers' championship days in the rearview mirror Erving had announced that the season would be his last. Dr. J probably hoped his grand finale would at least come at home at the end of a respectable playoff run but the actuality was less ideal. Facing the Bucks in the first round of the '87 post-season the Sixers headed to Milwaukee for a deciding game five where they were defeated by Jack Sikma Terry Cummings and company. In the ensuing garbage time the Doc got one final layup and one final three then was pulled to a resounding ovation and hugs from just about all concerned. It was an impressively emotional display from a fanbase who seemed more invested in giving a proper send off to a basketball legend than in celebrating their own team making the second round of the playoffs.

Offered here is Dr. Js last NBA game worn jersey worn on May 3rd 1987 vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. The historic red mesh jersey features exclusive Sand-Knit tagging on the front tail and proper features throughout. Solid game wear and wash wear are evident with the shirt remaining just as it was when Dr. J removed it for the last time putting a period at the end of one of the most prolific careers in professional basketball. Erving has signed the back number in black sharpie with his added inscription Last Game Worn Jersey 5/3/87 Game 5 vs. Milwaukee Bucks.

Includes a signed LOA from Julius Erving.
