During the 1981-82 NBA season Julius “Dr. J” Erving led the Philadelphia 76ers back to the NBA Finals only to face the Western Conference Champion L.A. Lakers in the in the championship round for the second time in three season. And just like what happened two years earlier the Lakers down the Sixers in six games. For the season however playing in 81 regular-season games the 31-year-old Dr. J. played vintage Dr. J basketball as he tallied 24.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

This lot features a pair of his 1982 NBA Finals (vs. Lakers) dual-autographed dated (6/8/82) and game-worn Converse All-Star shoes. In this particular game which was Game 5 the Sixers pulled out a 135-102 victory at home behind 23 points and nine boards from Dr. J. He was second on the Sixers in scoring that night behind teammate Andrew Toney’s game-high 31. The white leather Dr. J branded (in red) model Converse shoes (size 15.5) show ample game usage with scuff marks on the side with red trim around the ankle areas. Erving has signed the sides of both shoes in blue pen and added “Dr. J” as well as the date in question: “6/8/82.” Original shoe laces remain intact.

Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
