Important pair of fight-worn gloves from the great Jose Napoles in his 15-round unanimous decision title defense against Roger Menetrey in June of 1973 in Grenoble, France. The Leone Lofas-Sprint red gloves are in fine condition, largely problem free but with only sections of the laces retained. The gloves show exceptional fight use and include trainer Angelo Dundee's legendary inscriptions on the inside portion of each glove. In black marker Dundee wrote, "Title Defense, Jose Napoles vs. Roger Menetrey, 15 rds. Won"; in blue marker farther inside he signed his name and added "HOF 92" inscription.
Comes with Letter of Authenticity from Angelo Dundee.
