1980 PAC Ten/Rose Bowl Championship ring presented to USC Trojan HeadCoach John Robinson. USC took the PAC Ten with a 6-0-1 record then wenton to defeat Big Ten Champion Ohio State 17-16 with a touchdown in thefinal minute. Raised bust of Tommy Trojan on red stone on top surroundedby "PAC TEN CHAMPIONS". "ROBINSON" "ROSE BOWL 80" and "HC" on afootball helmet on one side. "1979 TROJANS" and banners with the scores"USC 17 OHIO STATE 16" "USC 42 NOTRE DAME 23" "USC 49 UCLA 14" andUSC 24 WASH 17" on the other. Inside stamped "ASTRIUM". Robinson begancoaching at USC in 1972 as offensive coordinator under Trojan coach JohnMcKay. From 1976 through 1982 and then 1993 through 1997 he was thehead coach at USC. During his 12 year tenure at USC Robinson's teams won5 PAC 8/PAC Championships and went 7-1 in Bowl Games including winning 4Rose Bowls. In 1978 his Trojans took the National FootballChampionship. His record at USC was 104-35-4 good for a .741 winningpercentage. In 2009 he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.Ring size 10 1/4. Weight 28 grams.
This ring was originally sold by SCP Auctions in our 2014 Summer Auction. The buyer misplaced the original LOA that was signed by Robinson. We have included a copy of this letter.
