This Rawlings Official 2002 World Series baseball was used during one of the most dramatic Fall Classics in history and bears the signature and "Game 7 Winner" inscription of starting pitcher John Lackey. The ball carries the official 2002 World Series stamping with Commissioner Allen H. Selig's facsimile signature on the reverse panel, along with the World Series logo. Lackey has signed the ball in blue marker across the sweet spot with his full signature, jersey number "#41," and "Game 7 Winner" inscription — a reference to his historic starting role in Game 7, making him the first rookie to start and win a World Series Game 7 in history.
The ball displays honest game use, with a tanned, dirted leather surface showing scuff marks, slight discoloration, and rubbing consistent with balls that saw active play. The red stitching remains fully intact. The signature is bold and legible in blue ink against the game-used surface. Authenticity is established by both an Angels Employee Letter of Authenticity and a PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity — dual provenance documentation that firmly roots this ball in the 2002 Fall Classic and specifically to Lackey's Game 7 performance.
