The Adidas Superstar green suede shoesoffered here were game-worn by Celtics legendary small forward John Havlicek in themid-late 1970's as he closed out his Hall of Fame career. With 13All-Star appearances and 8 NBA titles "Hondo" was an easy selection asone of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players. His #17 was retired in 1984 at theBoston Garden and he will forever be one of the greatest and mostpopular Celtics to ever wear the green and white.
Coming in size 14 the classic low-top sneakers display outstanding game use yet present essentially problem-free right down to the nap ofthe notoriously finicky suede leather. The original white shoestrings remainintact and show light green staining from the suede. There is virtuallyno sign of fraying of the stitching around any of the white Adidasstripes or the support areas around the heel. The Adidas Superstar logoon each tongue is somewhat faded. The leather heel is somewhat creasedfrom wear and storage. "14 0714 12" is stamped in white on theinterior. The insole remains intact although severely hardened fromsweat and age. A perfect 10/10 Havlicek autograph appears along theoutside right heel. The shoes originated from Havlicek's personalcollection which first hit the auction block in SCP Auctions' 2013Spring Premier. It should be noted that this is a different pair from the ones that sold in our last auction for $5718.
