Close your eyes and picture the pregame meanderings of the legendary Boston Celtics as they traveled throughout the NBA's cities with the stars of the greatest dynasty in NBA history milling around the scorer's table chatting with officials or lucky front-row fans.Get a little more specific and conjure up John Havlicek and this is the road warm-up jacket that your minds' eye created for the moment. It's a peach a remarkable piece of Celtics archival royalty that brings back to life that giddy era when the NBA was maturing and the Celtics name still carried the weight of the league's pre-eminent franchise. This Sand-Knit tagged beauty has Havlicek's No. 17 marked by hand on the collar tag and shows considerable game use and yet a remarkable level of preservation and care all at once. There is some puckering and fraying of the gold and white embroidered letters on the front and on the shamrock patches on the sleeves; the Massachusetts Bicentennial patch appears on the front right. There is some minimal wear visible to the green metal snaps on the front and the "Havlicek" velcro-applied nameplate is missing from the back. Mix in an enormous silver Sharpie Havlicek autograph 7 inches in length on the front left plus his inscription of HOF "84" and you can understand why this one would seem more at home in the Celtics Hall of Fame or the NBA counterpart in Springfield. It's that compelling and important. The Size 34 dual-tagged Sand-Knit shorts have an addition small tag on the waistband with Havlicek's No. 17; the shorts are in essentially as-issued and problem free condition as well. Comes with an LOA from John Havlicek.
