Presented here is one of the most unusual trophies from a legendary basketball star that you might encounter. John Havlicek was awarded this 26-inch high quite shrine-like "trophy" for winning a free-throw competition at Bridgeport High School in 1958 his senior year. A three-sport star at Bridgeport who was headed to - in chronological order - Ohio State the Boston Celtics and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame - not surprisingly won the Bridgeport free-throw competition sinking 47 of 50 attempts. There are seven levels with attractive polished and varnished hardwoods of alternating light and dark shades creating a highly unusual presentation that as noted above seems as much of a shrine as a conventional trophy. Five silver-painted basketball figurals rest on various corners of the trophy; Olympic-style figurals adorn the very top of the piece and in a "Doorway" at the center. Above the doorway is an autograph from Havlicek along with block-letter hand printing in his hand stating "H.S. Free throw Champ 47 of 50" and the date 1958." Decorative rivets following three faces of several of the various bases and are additionally located at other points on the statue; the final flourish might be a pair of 7-inch white tassels that hang from two upper-level basketball figurals. Some of the figurals have been repaired.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from John Havlicek.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
