This is a full sized Notre Dame helmet signed by HOFers Joe Montana and Tim Brown. Joe Montana signed in black ink with the inscription Fighting Irish #3. Has some smudging at the end of Montanas signature and on the #. Tim Brown signed in black ink with his uniform number 81 and the year he graduated 87.
The Fighting Irish won the 1977 national championship led by junior quarterback Joe Montana. The championship season climaxed with a 38-10 win in the 1978 Cotton Bowl Classic over previously top-ranked Texas led by Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell.
In the 1979 NFL Draft the San Francisco 49ers selected Montana in the third round with the 82nd overall pick. He then went on to become one the all-time greats in pro football history. Winning 4 Superbowl titles and being named MVP of 3 of those. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Brown chose the University of Notre Dame and played there from 19841987 earning the nickname "Touchdown Timmy." In his first year he set a freshman record with twenty-eight receptions. As a junior he set a record with 1937 all-purpose yards. During 1987 Brown caught 34 passes for 846 yards returned 34 punts for 401 yards rushed for 144 yards gained 456 yards on 23 kickoff returns and scored eight touchdowns. Brown finished his career at Notre Dame with 137 receptions for 2493 yards a school record 5024 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns. Brown made the College Football All-America Team twice and won the 1987 Heisman Trophy becoming the first wide receiver ever to win the award.
9 time Pro Bowl selection he was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
