Interesting 1917-20 Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger 125 Joe Jackson Signature Model bat with the special "YMCA" stamping on the upper handle just to the left of the center brand. High grade flame tempered ash bat is identical in every way to Joe Jackson Hillerich & Bradsby professional model bats ordered by Joe Jackson between 1917-20 with the exception of the "YMCA" stamping. Speculation is that the "YMCA" stamping is related to support activities relating to the United States participation in World War I. The YMCA was greatly involved in raising funds and support for our soldiers serving overseas. Stamped on knob is "194" "H1 1/2" and "42". Bat exhibits heavy game use with a 14" area of scoring along the handle and multiple repair nails driven into the handle to extend the life of the bat. Below the center brand at one time there appears to have been some side writing which is no longer visible. The barrel features a very deep factory stamped "Joe Jackson" signature. With Jackson banished from baseball following the 1920 season Louisville Slugger struck the name "Joe" off all of their future bats. A very rare gem from the time of Shoeless Joe Jackson playing days. Without the YMCA stamp you would be looking at a Joe Jackson gamer. Bat measures 36 inches in length and weighs 40.8 ounces.

LOA from MEARS with an AUTHENTIC rating.
