When the call of nature a ravenous hunger for a bulbous turgid ballpark hotdog or simply the perfectly understandable pursuit of a cold Ballantine Beer sent you scurrying underneath the stands at Yankee Stadium many years ago you might have spotted one of these oversized news photos adorning the otherwise dreary corridors. In the days before ballparks were designed to woo the clientele with every amenity that might be available at a grand hotel these kinds of charming homages to earlier eras and stars were a staple at admittedly more-humble ballparks across the land. This impressive 27-by-37-inch framed newsphoto of a young Joe DiMaggio performed that worthy task inside old Yankee Stadium. The news magazine photo is blown up to enormous proportions including the magazine type below creating a marvelous image of DiMaggio circa 1939; the heavy cardboard-mounted photo shows a bit of wear from having performed such yeoman-like duties in the Bronx but is still in highly presentable and collectible condition.
