Before he was a member of the Boston Celtics or a member of the 1968 United States gold-medal winning Mens Olympic Basketball Team Jo Jo White was a standout hoops star at the University of Kansas. In fact he was named to the All-Big Eight team for three straight years (1967-69) and was a consensus NCAA All-America Second Team pick in both 1968 and 69. This lot features Whites Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Induction plaque. The wooden plaque measures 14 wide by 18 high and sports an artists rendering of White in action for the Jayhawks on a large metal background that measures 12 wide by 16 high. The original rendition of White was done by renowned sports artist John Boyd Martin and shows White dribbling a basketball while wearing his Kansas Jayhawks uniform (No. 15). The front of the metal portion of the plaque reads: State of Kansas Sports Hall of Fame JO JO WHITE Inducted July 1997.
