Recently inducted Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame member Jo Jo White was the consummate point guard/floor general for the Boston Celtics from 1970 to 1979. In 1976 in fact he turned in a performance to remember during the NBA Finals when his Celtics bested the upstart Phoenix Suns in six games. In Game 5 a 128-126 triple-overtime win for Boston White led all scorers with 33 points. He connected on 15 field goals made three of four free throws and dished out nine assists. It was an exhaustive effort that defined Whites career and helped the Celtics inch closer toward their 13th NBA championship. After averaging 21.4 points 4.3 boards and 5.8 assists for six straight games White was named the NBA Finals MVP.
This lot features the Tiffany & Co. digital wristwatch that White was awarded after being named the NBA Finals MVP. The 14K gold-filled Pulsar watch includes special engraving on the backside that reads: JO JO WHITE #10 1976 MVP and includes engraved serial number 705725. The watch shows ample wear.
