The Catch is one of the most memorable moments in NFL history, and certainly in San Francisco 49ers lore. Dwight Clark’s unbelievable reception from Joe Montana carried the day and helped the Niners beat the Cowboys 28-27. San Francisco would ultimately go on to win Super Bowl XVI. There was no better choice for the January 18, 1982, Sports Illustrated cover than Clark’s grab. This particular copy is graded 9.4 by CGC, making it a population of just two in this grade and only one higher.
