The great Jackie Robinson is captured here in an 18-by-22-inch original pastel by noted sports artist Doug West the creator of highly coveted artwork of professional and amateur athletes from the United States and around the world. Serious hobbyists will recognize the style as one that has been used in a number of sports card sets over the years along with producing high-quality lithographs and prints. The original pastel (signed in white by West) has been matted and framed atop a smaller matted element displaying a 3-by-2-inch autograph cut with Robinson's signature 9/10 and "Best Wishes" inscription. The Jackie autograph is notable not only for its boldness but also the fact that is an early playing career version of his signature. Presented in an older wood frame the matting and frame show various touches of wear with a few small scuffs on the wood framing and one small abrasion to the matting. Overall dimensions are 25-by-29 inches.
