Alfred A. Duckett was businessman and author who collaborated with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on a book and speeches, including Dr. King's ''I Have a Dream'' speech for the 1963 March on Washington. Duckett also assisted Dr. King in the writing of both ''Why We Can't Wait,'' a book on the civil rights movement, and ''My Dream,'' a syndicated newspaper column. He collaborated with Jackie Robinson on the baseball player's autobiography, ''I Never Had It Made.''

He operated a public relations company that represented major black entertainment and political figures. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 67.

Offered is a first edition of Jackie Robinson’s final autobiography with dust jacket of the classic, “I Never Had It Made” as told to Alfred Duckett. Unfortunately, this book hit the book shelves 4 days after Jackie’s death, so the likelihood of finding a copy signed by him would be like hitting the lottery.  However, his co-author and Civil Rights legend, Alfred Duckett did sign this book which was originally personalized, but it appears the original owner passed it on and didn’t want to show their name.

In addition to this signed copy; this classic is accompanied by the original press kit for the book.  Inside the original folder is a 2 page press release and a period 1972 photographic 5’ x 7” image of Jackie Robinson on period Kodak photographic paper.

Super rare pairing for the Jackie Robinson collector who thought he/she had seen everything related to Jackie Robinson.

JSA COA for the Alfred Duckett autograph inside the book.
