The 2005 Masters was significant for being the final playing appearance of "the Golden Bear," Jack Nicklaus. In a professional career that dated back to 1961, Nicklaus won a record 18 major championships, including six Masters Tournaments. Although he had slowed down his appearances since 2000, Nicklaus and his son, Steve, turned to golf as a way to cope with the recent death of his grandson, Jake. Steve suggested that his father return to the Masters one final time, which he did, to the appreciation of his fans, who got to see him on the course in Augusta one last time. Jack Nicklaus has signed the interior of the United States map in bold black marker. The flag retains its bright yellow color, allowing Nicklaus’s signature to pop from its surface. A numbered PSA COA hologram is attached to the lower right corner.
