An important image that captures Lou Gehrig at 1935 spring training after being names the new Captain of the New York Yankees. 1935 was the first season without Babe Ruth, and it marked a new era for the Yankees in which Gehrig would lead the team to even greater heights than the Ruth-led dynasty, winning 4 straight World Series Championships from 1936-1939. This awesome horizontal image shows Gehrig stretching to make the play at first base. The Type 1 photo measures 6” x 8” with all four borders and displaying superb contrast and crisp clarity. The reverse of the photo has the original caption slug and Acme Newspictures stamp. A beautiful photo documenting the period in which Lou Gehrig cast off the Babe’s long shadow and forged his own place in Yankees history. Encapsulated Type 1 by PSA/DNA.
