High-grade NM-MT or better looking complete 1970 Topps Baseball set purchased by the consignor from Wholesale Cards Company back in 1970. Back then, each month a complete series would arrive, a solid brick of cards all assembled from vending boxes. While carefully putting the set into plastic pages for this auction, removing them from the metal filing cabinet where they have lain the last 50 years, it was easy to see that 95% or more appeared to be NM-MT to MINT or better, with the remainder almost all NM or better looking.
We sent the top 9 cards to PSA for grading. They came back: #189 Munson PSA NM-MT 8, 350 Clemente(HOF) PSA NM-MT 8, 500 Aaron(HOF) PSA NM-MT+ 8.5, 580 Rose PSA NM-MT 8, 600 Mays(HOF) PSA NM-MT 8, 630 Banks(HOF) PSA NM-MT 8, 660 Bench(HOF) PSA MINT 9, 700 F. Robinson PSA NM 7, 712 Ryan(HOF) PSA NM-MT 8. Needless to say, all of the cards, including the Robinson, look exactly like the PSA MINT 9 Bench. Also included are Checklist variations for #244, 343, 432 and 588, plus a complete set of (24) 1970 Topps Story Booklets in NM or better condition.
Incredible chance to pick up an extremely high grade example of this very condition conscious set from the collector who purchased it in the year of issue. Over $1850 in SMR value for the 9 graded cards alone. Tons of additional grading possibilities here!
