The 1963 Los Angeles Dodgers turned in a spectacular campaign. Led by southpaw pitcher Sandy Koufax who won both the N.L. Cy Young and Most Valuable Player awards the Dodgers posted a 99-63 regular-season record to win the N.L. pennant by six games over the runner-up St. Louis Cardinals. In the World Series the Blue Crew squared off against the A.L. Champion New York Yankees and swept the Bronx Bombers in four straight games marking the first time the Yankees were ever swept in the postseason. This world championship would also mark the Dodgers second title in five years.This lot features a high grade 1963 L.A. Dodgers World Champion team-signed official National League Spalding (Giles) baseball with veteran Manager Walter Alston and former manager and then-coach Leo Durocher both gracing the sweet spot in beautiful blue ink. The baseball which remains in great condition boasts 28 signatures in total including several Hall of Famers including Alston Durocher Koufax and Don Drysdale as well as other Dodger mainstays like 1962 N.L. MVP Maury Wills Johnny Podres Ron Fairly Frank Howard and Wally Moon. Note: Jim Gilliam Dick Tracewski and Willie Davis autographs are clubhouse signatures.Full LOA from JSA and PSA/DNA.
