The work of Arthur K. Miller is often referred to as "The Art of the Game." The supremely talented artist from coastal Maine has made a name for himself in the sports industry by depicting ballplayers from bygone eras in his own richly detailed inimitable style. This fine Miller painting of pitching great Grover Cleveland Alexander is truly one of a kind since Arthur K. Miller has claimed publicly that he has painted the Hall of Famer only once. The large oil on board rendering measures 35x26" framed. Beautiful image features Alexander on the mound in a Phillie uniform right after he has delivered a pitch to home plate. The facial image uniform glove background all the details on this original artwork are perfect. The attention to detail is incredible. Alexander is portrayed in his prime between 1911 and 1917 as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. During this 7 year period he dominated the National League leading in Wins(5) Strike Outs(5) Shut Outs(5) Innings Pitched(6) Complete Games(5) and ERA(3) all while averaging over 27 victories a year. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner. One of the most beautiful pieces of baseball art we have seen!
