Bill Knickerbocker was a shortstop whose career spanned 10 major league seasons for five different teams. His career started in Cleveland where he spent four seasons (1933-36) with the Indians then the St. Louis Browns (1937) New York Yankees (1938-40) Chicago White Sox (1941) and finally the Philadelphia Athletics (1942). He was part of back-to-back World Series winning Yankee teams in 38 and 39. This lot includes an nice mix of five different items from Knickerbocker's personal collection highlighted by his 1934 player contract with the Cleveland Indians. 1934 was his best season as he batted .317 over 146 games and finished 19th in the AL MVP voting. The all-original uniform player's contract made out to "WM. H. KNICKERBOCKER" was a $4000 deal for one year. It is signed by the Indians Vice President at the time Billy Evans or as he was known in his younger umpiring days "The Boy Umpire." The other four items include: a monogrammed gold-colored belt bucket (1.75" by 1.75") with his initials "W K" and the first letters of teams he played for; a 16" (cracked) H&B signature mini bat; a Chicago White Sox bat pen; and a 1940 Play Ball baseball card of Knickerbocker as a Yankee. Great group of items from the Bill Knickerbocker estate.

Contract pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
