An outstanding Type 1 photo of Babe Ruth taken on April 25, 1921. The 26-year-old slugger is captured standing on the field watching comedian Nick Altrock perform his comedy routine before the game against Washington. Once the ballgame got underway, Ruth faced Walter Johnson and hit a towering home run into the upper tier of the right-field stands. The homer was the fifth of Ruth’s eventual remarkable season total of 59. The photo is printed to the edge of the paper without a white border. The edges show just very light wear while the corners remain sharp. The reverse has an Underwood & Underwood stamp and dated caption slug describing the action depicted in the photograph. Several pencil notations are visible and there is some staining from glue residue. The 6 1/2" X 8 1/2" photo has been encapsulated and graded an Authentic Type 1 by PSA.
