Gil McDougald spent his 10-year major league career with the Yankees and played a key role on one of baseballs greatest dynasties. He was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1951 and teamed with Hall of Famers such as Mickey Mantle Yogi Berra Whitey Ford and manager Casey Stengel to lead New York to eight American League pennants from 1951-60. McDougald finished in the top 10 in AL MVP voting three times (1951 1956 1957) and was selected to six All-Star teams. Presented here is McDougalds Hillerich & Bradsby professional model R43 bat produced for his use in the 1957 World Series. One of only two such bats specially made and marked for the Series it shows light to moderate usage wear remaining uncracked. The degree of usage is consistent with Gils 6 for 24 performance (.250) in the seven game series versus the victorious Milwaukee Braves.
