The Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team went on a run of five consecutive Final Four appearances between 1959 and 1964, a feat topped only by John Wooden and UCLA. Back-to-back national championship victories in 1961 and 1962 put an exclamation point on the half decade of dominance. The Bearcats were runners-up to the title in 1963 as well.
One of the key players on those Bearcats teams was center George Wilson. Wilson won the title with Cincinnati in 1962 before earning All-American recognition in 1963 and winning the gold medal as a member of Team USA at the 1964 Olympic Games. Offered is Wilson's 1962 NCAA championship ring. The face of the ring features a red stone with the words "UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI 1962" encircling it. On one shank is "NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS" above the words "DILIGENCE, DISCIPLINE, INTEGRITY." The other shank features "NCAA" above its logo and the same three words as the first shank. Inside the band are Wilson's initials "G.W." in a script and the Jostens 10K stamping. The ring weighs 20.7 grams and is size 11. Accompanied by a letter from Wilson himself.
