The Indiana Pacers won their second ABA title in five seasons in 1972. Power forward George McGinnis became an immediate star upon joining the Pacers as a rookie out of Indiana University. He averaged 16.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the title-winning Pacers as a rookie in 1971-72. . McGinnis went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the ABA and later the NBA with the 76ers and Nuggets.
Presented here is McGinnis' 1972 Indiana Pacers ABA championship ring. The face features a blue stone in the center surrounded by real diamonds and the words "PACERS 1972 CHAMPIONS." On one shank is his last name "MCGINNIS," number "30" and the Pacers logo at the time. The other shank has the date of the title-clinching game "MAY 20, 1972," the final score, the ABA logo, and the slogan "PRIDE, POISE, PERFECTION." Inside is stamped with the hallmark "HERFF JONES HJ 10K." The size 13 ring weighs 28 grams exhibits quite a bit of wear but still presents well.
