This is the net that was jubilantly cut down on the heels of North Carolina State's 1974 NCAA Championship win over Marquette University on March 25 1974. Winning the national championship capped the most memorable year in the school's history due in no small part to the heroics of junior David Thompson a consensus All-America all three years at North Carolina State and winner of virtually every major national player of the year award in his senior campaign in 1975. The net shows the expected game use and has been well-preserved by Thompson in the ensuing 38 years. Includes full-color 91/4-by-13-inch laminated team photo plaque that handsomely presents a newspaper article recording the championship season. On the back of the plaque the NBA Hall of Famer employed a black marker for an enormous and spectacular autograph.
